Job Overview
This is seeking to staff for our client United Airlines – a Senior AI Security Engineer to join our AI Security team, responsible for securing the airline’s rapidly expanding portfolio of generative AI and machine learning systems. This role will ensure AI deployments meet enterprise security, compliance, and responsible AI standards while enabling innovation across customer experience, operations, and internal productivity initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct technical security reviews of generative AI solutions, identifying architecture gaps, data handling risks, and supply chain vulnerabilities
- Develop and maintain AI security standards, policies, and governance frameworks aligned with industry best practices (OWASP AI Top 10, MITRE ATLAS)
- Perform adversarial testing and security validation of AI systems using automated tools and manual techniques
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Gen AI Center of Excellence, and Red Team to assess AI risk across the enterprise
- Maintain AI inventory and risk assessment systems, tracking security posture of 100+ production AI use cases
- Partner with legal, procurement, and compliance teams to evaluate vendor AI solutions and negotiate security requirements
- Provide security guidance to development teams implementing AI capabilities across the airline
- Build security tooling and automation using Python to enhance AI security testing and monitoring capabilities
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with 2+ years focused on AI/ML security or application security
- Deep understanding of AI security threats, including prompt injection, data poisoning, model extraction, and adversarial attacks
- Proficiency in Python for developing security tools, automation scripts, and security testing frameworks
- Experience with cloud security architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) and API security
- Knowledge of security frameworks and standards (NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2)
- Strong technical skills in security assessment, threat modeling, and risk analysis
- Ability to communicate complex security concepts to technical and executive audiences
- Experience with security tools, SIEM platforms, and vulnerability management systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience developing or securing generative AI applications using LLMs (GPT, Claude, Llama, etc.)
- Experience building or securing agentic AI systems and multi-agent architectures
- Familiarity with LLM architectures and generative AI platforms (Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic Claude)
- Experience with AI red teaming or adversarial testing tools
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) as applied to AI systems
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or cloud security certifications
- Background in secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices
- Experience in aviation, transportation, or highly regulated industries
