The purpose of this position is to spread the message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ to the world through creating and publishing engaging messages on social media channels. The Social Media Specialist 3 is responsible for developing, executing, and optimizing digital content strategies that amplify brand messaging and foster meaningful audience engagement across social platforms. This role leverages data-driven insights, platform expertise, and creative storytelling to deliver impactful, mission-aligned, omnichannel content at scale.
The social media specialist has a deep understanding of how to utilize social media as an effective communication tool, create consistent and meaningful content across social media platforms, analyze key metrics to make strategic content plan recommendations, and engage in relevant conversations online on behalf of the channel while maintaining a safe space for the audience. The social media specialist will work in collaboration with other members of the creative/production teams, project managers, producers, product managers, and vendors to create impactful content and meaningful messaging.
Additionally, this position serves as both a strategist and operator—translating organizational objectives into high-performing social media campaigns while maintaining brand voice, ensuring content integrity, and cultivating a safe and engaging online community.
This is a full-time, hybrid position in Salt Lake City, Utah. The incumbent is required to live within a 100-mile radius of Salt Lake City, Utah as a condition of employment. An in-office work arrangement will be agreed to by the incumbent and the manager.
Content Strategy & Planning
- Develop and own social media channel content strategies aligned with organizational and marketing objectives.
- Build and manage editorial calendars across platforms.
- Lead content ideation and brainstorming efforts and make assignments.
- Identify opportunities for cross-channel amplification and omnichannel storytelling.
- Align content strategies with global audiences, incorporating localization and cultural considerations.
Content Creation & Production
- Oversees multimedia content production (short-form video, static posts, captions, stories).
- Apply platform-specific best practices (e.g., hooks, watch-time optimization, shareability).
- Maintain brand voice, tone, and visual consistency in partnership with designers.
Publishing & Posting
- Execute daily publishing across platforms, ensuring all assets (links, thumbnails, metadata) are optimized.
- Utilize social media management tools (e.g., Sprinklr) to schedule and manage posts in advance.
Approvals & Compliance
- Manage end-to-end approval workflows, ensuring content meets legal, brand, and stakeholder requirements.
Community Management & Moderation
- Monitor and engage with audience interactions (comments, DMs) in real time.
- Escalate and resolve sensitive or high-risk interactions appropriately.
Analytics & Performance Optimization
- Track, analyze, and report on social media performance using key metrics and dashboards (Meta analytics, etc.).
- Conduct performance reviews and present actionable insights to stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with internal departments, vendors, and global teams for collaborative campaigns.
- Coordinate influencer and partnership initiatives.
- Support integrated campaigns across multiple brands or initiatives.
- Train team members and interns on publishing tools and governance processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, digital media, or related field.
- 4+ years of professional experience in social media management or digital marketing.
- Advanced knowledge of major platforms (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, etc.).
- Proficiency in social media management and analytics tools (e.g., Sprinklr, Meta, Adobe Analytics).
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g., Premiere Pro, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
- Proficient with video capturing and editing for social media.
- Strong understanding of content algorithms, SEO for social media, and audience growth strategies.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong storytelling ability.
- Data-driven mindset with ability to translate analytics into actionable insights.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently.
- Experience working in fast-paced, high-visibility environments with tight deadlines.
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders, including senior leaders.
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to anticipate and mitigate risks.
- Experience managing content approvals and compliance workflows.
- Familiarity with international audiences and localization strategies.
- Leadership experience mentoring junior team members or interns.
