Description and Requirements

Are you passionate about cloud technology and eager to learn how global products are built and maintained? Join Lenovo’s Cloud and Software team as a DevOps Engineering Intern! You’ll work alongside experienced engineers to help design, develop, and support cloud products used worldwide. This internship is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience with modern DevOps practices, cloud infrastructure, and automation tools.

What You’ll Do

As a DevOps Intern, you’ll be involved in a variety of tasks that support our engineering and product teams. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting with daily support tasks and resolving blockers
  • Helping with environment promotion strategies and deployment workflows
  • Participating in cloud resource management and infrastructure reviews
  • Maintaining and monitoring cloud environments to ensure reliability and uptime
  • Working with source control and supporting code management
  • Collaborating on the design and improvement of cloud infrastructure and solutions
  • Researching new technologies and contributing to proof-of-concept projects
  • Helping optimize knowledge base and document repositories
  • Automating manual tasks using scripts and infrastructure-as-code tools
  • Assisting in debugging cloud infrastructure and application issues
  • Working to improve processes and reduce repetitive work (toil)
  • Contributing to our AWS cloud operations
  • Participate in SCRUM ceremonies and project-related meetings

What You’ll Learn

During your internship, you will have opportunities to gain meaningful exposure to:

  • AWS cloud infrastructure (such as EC2, S3, VPC, ECS, EKS, CloudFront, IAM, CloudWatch, and more)
  • DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform and Python
  • CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins
  • Containerization with Docker
  • Cloud monitoring and troubleshooting techniques
  • Working in cross-functional, global teams
  • Best practices for cloud security and operational reliability
  • Container orchestration with Kubernetes (EKS)

Who You Are

We’re looking for college students who:

  • Are pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Have a strong interest in cloud computing, DevOps, and automation
  • Are eager to learn new technologies and work in a collaborative environment
  • Have some experience (coursework, projects, or personal interest) with programming (Python & Terraform preferred), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), or automation tools
  • Are comfortable working with Linux/Unix or Windows operating systems
  • Are proactive, detail-oriented, and able to communicate effectively
  • Are fluent in English

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms (even if just in school projects)
  • Familiarity with BitBucket, Git, source control, or CI/CD concepts
  • Exposure to infrastructure as code (IaC), automation scripts, or cloud monitoring tools (Cloudwatch, DataDog)
  • Interest in microservices, serverless architecture, or cloud security
  • Any relevant certifications (AWS, Azure, etc.) are a plus but not required

This is a hybrid position based in Morrisville, NC. Onsite presence is required three days per week. Relocation assistance is not available for this position. The target start date will be June 1, 2026.
