Full job description
Job Title: Starburst Software Engineer
Location: Remote
Other Consideration: Authorized to work in the United States and ability to obtain Public-Trust Clearance
POSITION SUMMARY:
Starburst Engineers build scalable, high-performance data infrastructure and user-facing features that power Starburst Galaxy and the Starburst Enterprise Platform (SEP). Engineers work closely with the creators to deliver cutting-edge solutions for data access, governance, and analytics across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to understand data requirements and develop solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain backend services and APIs for Starburst’s data platform.
- Build features related to identify and access management. (IAM), data governance, and query optimization.
- Collaborate with UX, product, and security teams to deliver intuitive and secure user experiences.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, and platform reliability.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and cross-functional planning.
- Support product systems and troubleshoot performance issues in distributed environments.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. (Master’s degree preferred)
- 8+ Years of experience working in a cloud-based platform like Snowflake, Denodo, Trino, or Databrick with direct Starburst experience the preferred
- Familiarity with Azure Cloud Services and DevOps Practices
- Prior experience building distributed systems or working with cloud-native architectures
- Familiarity with authentication and authorization frameworks
- Experience with CI/CD tools, containerization, and infrastructure automation
- Understanding of data platforms
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Commitment to professional growth and learning
- Adaptability and openness to new ideas
WORKING CONDITIONS
Standard Business hours are Monday through Friday (list any particular schedule). Occasional extended or weekend hours may be required based on operational needs.
