Program Overview:

As a IT Security Analyst Level IV, you will contribute to maintaining the security and integrity of critical USCG systems, ensuring they meet federal IT security standards. Working under general supervision, you will assist in performing security assessments, system integrity checks, and incident responses, while actively contributing to improving overall cybersecurity posture. Your work will directly support system recovery, audit controls, and compliance with federal regulations.

Position Overview:

We are looking for a IT Security Analyst Level IV to join our cybersecurity team. In this entry-level position, you will be responsible for supporting a variety of security-related activities, including access protection, audit control, system integrity, and incident response. You will provide competent task leadership, and highly specialized and technical guidance for an IT Security Team. Simultaneously plan, manage, and provide technical advice and oversight for IT Security activities, including, but not limited to, the design and implementation of appropriate access protection; system integrity/reliability; audit control; system recovery methods and procedures; prevention of breaches, intrusions, and/or system abuses; awareness training; and compliance with federal and agency IT security policy directives and regulations. Direct completion of tasks within estimated timeframes and budget constraints. Schedule and assign duties to subordinates, and formulates and enforces work standards. Coordinate with the client and Program Manager to ensure problem resolution and customer satisfaction. May also serve as project lead or task lead.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Access Protection & System Integrity: Under general supervision, assist in ensuring the protection of systems through access control, vulnerability management, and system integrity checks.
  • Audit Control & System Recovery: Perform activities related to audit control and support system recovery methods and procedures, ensuring systems are restored to proper working order after incidents or failures.
  • Security Incident Prevention & Response: Assist in preventing breaches, intrusions, or system abuses by monitoring and responding to security incidents. Work with senior analysts to identify and mitigate threats.Assist with promoting security awareness throughout the organization. Provide training to employees regarding best practices, security protocols, and compliance with security standards.Ensure compliance with federal IT security policies, directives, and regulations, particularly related to RMF (Risk Management Framework) and FISMA.Perform security assessments on systems, networks, and applications. Recommend and implement actions to mitigate vulnerabilities and enhance system security.Administer IT security systems such as firewalls, anti-virus tools, intrusion detection systems, and security configurations for Active Directory Services and DMZ firewalls.Support the implementation and management of security technologies, including firewalls, VPN, SSH, SSL, NAT, and related technologies.

Education:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Information Systems SecurityComputer Science, or a related field.
  • Alternatively, completion of USCG or DOD Technical “A” School and six (6) years of experience in IT systems security.

Certification: CISSP or equivalent (required).

Experience:

  • Six (6) years of experience in IT systems security for those with a degree.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in IT systems security for those with the DOD/USCG technical school background.
  • Clearance: Secret clearance required.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with network and application protocols such as TCP/IPHTTP/SFTPRADIUSLDAPDHCP, and an understanding of networking technologies like routersfirewallsVPNSSHSSL, and NAT.
  • Security Tools & Techniques: Experience with administering security systems, including firewallsanti-virus managementintrusion detection systems, and Active Directory Services.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to assist with identifying, analyzing, and mitigating security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting security findings and collaborating with technical teams.
